Ceremony Process
6.30 am
Gather guests to attend the parade
7.00 am – 8.00 am
Groom’s Processional (Parade) and Rings Exchange
Family and friends are encouraged to join Monin’s parade with gifts to announce that he means to marry his new bride, Nané. Rings are also exchange towards the end.
Invite guests for breakfast.
8.30 am
Monk Blessing
In this important occasion of the Cambodian life cycle, monks will play as the one bless the couple by dropping flower water while chanting their blessings. During the ceremony, the guests and couple are required to keep quiet with their heads bowed and put their hands together.
9:30 am
Hair-Cutting (Cleansing) Ceremony
To prepare the Monin & Nané for their life as a married couple, their hair is symbolically cut, representing a fresh start to their new relationship together as husband & wife. The bride & groom’s parents & relatives take turns to symbolically cut the bride & groom’s hair and give them blessings.
10.30 am
Passing of Blessings & Knot Tying Ceremony
Passing of Blessings: Married couples are invited to join a circle around Monin & Nané. Candles are passed clockwise seven times and the smoke is waved toward the couple, representing the passing of blessings.
Knot Tying Ceremony: during this ceremony,
Family and friends give their blessing by tying string to the wrist of Monin & Nané. Showing the newlyweds with palm flower seeds, pka sla, and gifts, marks the end of the Khmer Wedding Ceremony.
11.30 am
Invite guests for lunch.
5.00 pm
Wedding Reception – Party in the evening.
